End of negotiations for the designation of the opposition’s consensus candidate for the presidential election on October 12. Sources confide that at least five candidates selected for the presidential election on October 12 have agreed to designate a consensus candidate against the candidate of the Rassemblement démocratique du peuple camerounais (RDPC), Paul Biya.

For obvious reasons, sources contacted by Panorama Papers explain that the name of the elected official cannot be communicated at this time. The only certainty is that the designation of the opposition’s candidacy is the result of agreements between Bello Bouba Maïgari, Cabral Libii, Tomaïno Ndam Njoya, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, and Akere Muna.

One of the sources contacted by Panorama Papers emphasizes that this coalition involves other candidates rejected by the Constitutional Council, as well as party leaders who did not submit their candidacies for the presidential election on October 12. The platform, which also includes civil society actors, intends to reveal the name of the candidate by September 15.
