Trauma is real, and empathy must be welcomed.
These are persons and parishes that have lived through trauma for the past 10 years, people who, in some cases, have nothing to eat, living in a country where the Church has almost abandoned them through her perpetual silence. These are the very people expected to contribute such a huge sum to bury our beloved bishop.
Can these persons realistically carry this burden? Is such a sum really necessary? In times of collective trauma, solidarity and simplicity can communicate far more than extravagance. The people are hurting. The Church must hear them, feel with them, and carry their burden, & not add another burden to their shoulders.
This amount is nothing to the corrupt regime in Yaounde, which the church has been supporting to oppress the poor
