A press release from the Cameroonian embassy in Equatorial Guinea has announced that President Paul Biya has approved the opening of a river-maritime line for the transportation of people and goods between Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon. Cameroonian citizens who wish to travel to Equatorial Guinea can choose the sea route. The inaugural voyage of this maritime line, operated by Viteoca’s ship M/V Dona Candida, is scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2024, for the return to Malabo from Douala.
According to the diplomat, this new river-maritime line will strengthen the sub-regional integration process, increase the volume of trade and provide travelers with a secure and comfortable means of maritime transport. Désiré Jean Claude Owono Menguele, the Cameroonian ambassador in Equatorial Guinea, expressed his happiness about the outcome of this initiative, which was conducted jointly with the Equatoguinean company Viteoca and with the support of the high authorities of both countries.
