Pedagogic Animator for Bui has tragically lost his life at the hands of Ambazonia Separatists.

Separatist fighters have killed Amos Vernyuy, the lead pedagogic animator at the Divisional Delegation of Basic Education for Bui. The attack occurred on the night of Saturday, September 28, 2024, in his home region of Bui Division.

The Regional Delegate of Basic Education for the North West region confirmed the tragic news of Vernyuy’s death in a message shared on social media.

Local educators expressed their sorrow, stating that Vernyuy was a significant figure in Kumbo’s educational community. “We held him in high regard,” one anonymous teacher remarked. “His sudden passing has created a significant loss for us in Kumbo and the entire Bui Division,” added a colleague.

Many have condemned the act as brutal, noting that it is not an isolated incident in the conflict-ridden North West and South West regions of Cameroon. Since the onset of the armed conflict in 2017, over 500 teachers have encountered severe challenges, with many losing their lives, resulting in a perilous environment for educators.
