In recent military operations in Cameroon’s conflict-hit North West and South West Regions, two separatist fighters were killed. One of the fighters, Hassan Njatow, who styled himself as “Mission Commander,” was killed in an ambush in Rom village, Nwa Subdivision, North West Region. Villagers reportedly tipped off security forces about his movements due to his alleged involvement in roadblocks and kidnappings.
In a similar operation in the South West Region, soldiers of the 21st Battalion killed a separatist fighter known as “Colonel Toless” of Makobe. These operations are part of ongoing efforts to pacify the region.
The Anglophone Crisis began in late 2016 and has led to significant casualties and displacement. Despite the killing of many separatist commanders, the conflict shows no signs of abating as new fighters continue to emerge.
