Betrayal, Collapse, and the Rise of Dr. Sako

This is the voice of Ambazonia, truth and resistance, clarity in crisis. Today is Saturday, August 23rd, 2025. Today’s editorial is titled, Betrayal, Collapse, and the Rise of Dr. Sako.

Fellow Ambazonians, greetings. Our revolution has survived bullets, massacres, and scorched earth, but the greatest danger has never been Yaounde’s guns. The greatest danger has been betrayal from within.

The collapse of Ni John Fru Ndi’s SDF was a warning. It showed us that opportunists, infiltrators, and profiteers can destroy a people’s struggle faster than any army. When Dr. Samuel Ikome Sako took office in 2018, he inherited that lesson.

And unlike Fru Ndi, who compromised his party into irrelevance, Dr. Sako confronted betrayal head-on and turned crisis into strength. The first betrayers were the traitors of the struggle. Sisiku Ayokutabe was one of them.

Beyond his reckless dash into Nigeria that delivered the Nera 10 into captivity, Sisiku had already entangled our revolution in shady money deals. His late chief of staff, Ayembe Elango, arranged a $1 million diplomatic contract. By the time Dr. Sako assumed office, $17,000 had already been wired to a man named O’Brien, later exposed as Ayembe’s business partner.

Dr. Sako stopped the payments immediately. Ayembe never explained the deal before he died in 2024, and even went as far as signing an MOU with Cho Ayaba’s ExGOV – undermining Dr. Sako. Then came the treasury scandal.

Sisiku appointed his high school sweetheart, Helene Akonji, and his relative, Tabeyang, to manage the My Trip to Buea funds. When Sisiku was arrested, Tabeyang disappeared with tens of thousands of dollars. Today, Tabeyang lives in luxury and shamelessly flaunts himself on TikTok, while Dr. Sako is ironically forced to explain mismanagement he never committed.

To restore confidence, Dr. Sako ordered a full audit of the MTTB accounts. But here is the irony. Helene Akonji and Tabeyang never appeared before the audit committee, and to this day, they have never accounted for their role in the fund scam.

Yet, out of that scandal, reforms were born. The treasury was restructured. Who is the leader here? The man who presided over theft, or the man who cleaned up the mess? Chris Anu was no different.

He bragged about pocketing humanitarian funds. He failed to account for $135,000. He even fabricated a CDC deal to unseat Dr. Sako and crown himself president.

It collapsed like every scheme before it. Then came the shadow operators. Elvis Kometa, with his shady past and secret meetings, plotted to remove Dr. Sako under the cover of refugee visits.

His nationwide tour fell apart once exposed. Most dangerous of all were the 11th province infiltrators, the Trungeon Horses of Yaoundé, descendants of French Cameroon families, welcomed to Southern Cameroons, yet working against our liberation. Their names are familiar.

Cho Ayaba, Eric Chinje, Paul Tassong, Felix Mbayu, Ellie Smith, Joseph Dion Ngute, Kizito Elat, Victor Julius Ngoh, Joshua Osi, Peter Esoka, Atan Milan, and Mimi Mepho. Add Marianta Jomia, long tied to Dion Ngute. Add those married into the Bulubeti oligarchy, Paul Atanga Nji, Peter Mafany Musonge, the late Achidi Achu, and Christopher Nsahlai.

Add the media infiltrators, Dr. Abongwa, Boh Herbert, and John Akuru. And yes, the lesser voices, Joe Carr, Tapang Ivo, Mark Barreta, and Eric Tataw, are now jailed in the United States for COVID-19 fraud. They all undermined the struggle, and they all failed.

Fellow Ambazonians, Fru Ndi’s SDF collapsed because betrayal was tolerated. Dr. Sako has done the opposite. He ordered audits where others committed theft.

He restructured institutions where others pocketed funds. He phased down smear campaigns and came out stronger. The lesson is clear.

Freedom cannot be entrusted to men hungry for money, titles, or favours from Yaounde. Freedom belongs only to those who sacrifice without selling, who stand without skimming, who lead without betraying. The fall of the SDF was the warning.

The rise of Dr. Sako is the answer. This has been the voice of Ambazonia, truth in resistance, clarity in crisis.
