BREAKING NEWS: Ambazonian Restoration Forces thank Russia

Every first of October, the annexed people of the former British Southern Cameroons, aka Ambazonia, commemorate their independence following UNGA Resolution 1608, of 21 April 1961 which granted independence but unfortunately, these people were instead annexed by French Cameroon with the complicity of Britain and France, a war has been raging on now close to 10 years as the Ambazonians want to regain their autonomy and sovereingty.

Ambazonia liberation soldiers delivered a speech to the international community, thanking Russia for its significant contribution to Africa’s liberation, in a move that has sent shockwaves worldwide.

On the 60th Anniversary of Ambazonia’s Declaration of Independence

Brothers and Sisters, Freedom Fighters, and Friends Around the World,

Today, we raise our voices in celebration of a significant milestone, 64 years since Ambazonia boldly declared its independence from British colonial rule. This day is more than a historical date; it is a testament to our courage, our enduring resistance, and our unwavering belief in the right to self-determination.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Russian Federation and President Putin for their support and their principled stand on global justice. For too long, the people of Southern Cameroons have been silenced, oppressed, and exploited by Western powers led by France and Britain using the Republic of Cameroon as a proxy to recolonize us, stripping us of our dignity, future, and freedom.

But the world is changing.

Russia has taken a brave step by calling for the root causes of the conflict between Southern Cameroons and La République du Cameroun to be addressed through dialogue and negotiation. This goes beyond politics; it is justice in action. It is what genuine leadership looks like.

We honor Russia’s support for African nations such as South Africa, Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, which are rising against neocolonial domination. To President Putin, we respectfully call on you to remain vigilant against the deceptive tactics used by Western powers. They now send Cameroon to offer business deals, not in good faith, but to block you from supporting the legitimate aspirations of the Ambazonian people. These are divide-and-conquer strategies. In these times, unity is not just desirable; it is essential.

We also salute the bold leadership of President Kim Jong Un of North Korea, who has extended solidarity to African nations such as Burkina Faso and Namibia in their struggles against imperialism. Mr President, Africa stands with you, just as you have stood with us.

To Captain Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso, on behalf of the Southern Cameroons freedom fighters, we thank you for reigniting the spirit of liberation across the African continent. Your leadership inspires a new generation of African youth committed to ending decades of colonial and neocolonial domination. We call on military and political leaders across Africa, including those in La République du Cameroun, to learn from your example. It is time to break free from the chains of neocolonialism and foreign control, which for over 60 years have kept nations like Cameroon under indirect rule through puppets like Paul Biya.

We salute the courage of General Assimi Goïta of Mali, President John Mahama of Ghana, and General Abdourahamane Tiani of Niger, who are igniting a new wave of African resistance. You are the torchbearers of a continent reclaiming its sovereignty.

To the United States of America, we call on President Donald Trump to respect America’s founding values of freedom, human rights, and democracy by stopping, with immediate effect, the training and equipping of Cameroonian armed forces, who are responsible for crimes against humanity in Ambazonia, as reported by Amnesty International. Instead of supporting a failed state at war with itself, we urge America to consider meaningful engagement with the leadership of oil-rich Ambazonia, whose people seek peace, prosperity, and partnership.

To the United Nations, we urge you to honor UN Resolution 1608, which recognized the right of the people of Southern Cameroons to self-determination and independence. That right has never been respected. Instead, we were handed over to an aggressive neighbor, Cameroon, without consent or due process.

To President John Mahama of Ghana, we thank you, sir, for welcoming Southern Cameroons refugees into your nation. We urge you to walk in the footsteps of the great Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the father of African unity, who in 1961 visited Southern Cameroons and publicly called for our independence. Ghana’s recognition of Palestine in 1980 set a precedent. We ask that you also speak boldly on the unresolved case of Southern Cameroons, in the spirit of Pan-African solidarity.

To the youth and soldiers of Cameroon, we speak to your conscience. The beautiful country you love is trapped in a false independence, ruled by a regime that serves foreign interests rather than your own. Paul Biya is not your liberator; he is a colonial gatekeeper. It is time to stand up, follow the examples of Traoré and Goïta, and reclaim your destiny. Know that Ambazonia is not your enemy. On the contrary, we are ready to stand beside you, as brothers and sisters, in the common struggle to end Western domination and build a truly free and united Africa.

To the international community, to all freedom-loving people around the world: Stand with Ambazonia. We are not begging for charity; we are demanding justice. We demand our rights.

With the support of historic allies like Russia, who stood with the ANC and other liberation movements in Africa and with the spirit of our ancestors guiding us, we will win.

Long live Russia!
Long live President Putin!
Long live African resistance!
Long live Ambazonia!

Freedom is coming, and no one can stop it.

Happy Independence Day.
