CAMEROON, WHERE IS YOUR PRESIDENT?
You are listening to Radio Equinox, the people’s channel. Hello, where is President Paul Biya? This is a legitimate and crucial question that the national press is living with like a plague. Where is our President of the Republic? We have the impression that this is a taboo subject in Cameroon.
Since the election has been announced, it’s been more than a month. No one sees Paul Biya as a candidate. He has never spoken about the election or about the ongoing process outside the communique, and the formula of Facebook messages copied from Professor Maurice Kamto.
Communications whose presidential paternity is widely debatable. Where is Paul Biya? For months, his secretary-general has received, in the context of a curious form of electoral campaign, in the offices of state delegations. But we have never heard of a single member of the various delegations who has already been told that he has seen Paul Biya, even from behind, or from 400 meters away.
Some will say that this is not important, because from the moment he signs the documents, from the moment he is represented, it’s okay. We do not agree with the other there, and this for three reasons. First, if the members of the government themselves doubt the presidential authenticity of certain documents, of certain acts, of certain high inscriptions, if several apparatuses of the regime close to Paul Biya themselves often formulate doubts about high inscriptions, for the most part, we criticize the Scribe.
Nothing prevents us from thinking that he could have a hand, or black hands, behind the high inscriptions, or behind Paul Biya’s signatures. Given that these appearances of all these last seven years show us a 92-year-old man extremely weakened, some will see that they can take advantage of this weakness and maliciously impose certain acts in his name. Secondly, we do not take a presidential mandate, especially a 7-year mandate, to spend time being represented on the ground, either by collaborators or by photos.
No, it’s unacceptable. You cannot fight to take this year at the head of a state and then each time leave your responsibilities to relatives. And what relatives? Relatives to whom even the other members of the government do not trust.
Relatives criticized by several members of your team. In addition to spending seven years in management mode, by procurement, by delegation, you still come, despite this, to request another 7-year mandate, that is, to extend the presidency by procurement of 7 years. And this is not subject to any particular attention of the national press.
Since Paul Biya declared his candidacy by message, no television has yet made a report to ask where he is. No Sunday show with Paul Biya on the subject. Meanwhile, Sunday journalists and their big-mouthed guests, like us, come out of the veins on the faces of subjects of the last choice.
The subjects of the frisbee, however, we have subjects ready to wear, like the deafening physical erasure of Paul Biya from the political scene. When we do a lot, we show it clearly, in the process of receiving someone like that at his presidency. But on the ground, nothing.
The last time Paul Biya offered himself to us on the ground was in 2018. It was at the airport of Maroua Salak, the only place where he fought the campaign. A single region out of 10, a single division out of 58, a single municipality out of 360, and that’s all.
And according to ELECAM and the Constitutional Council, the Cameroonians were seduced by this one campaign day, to the point where they gave the man 70% of their vote. The President of the Republic is 92 years old. At this age and in a country where the life expectancy is 56 years for men and 58 years for women, we need to know if everything is going well for our loved ones over 56 or 58 years old.
At home, when you are only over 56 or 58 years old, we estimate that you have defied the laws of nature specific to Cameroon, because the living conditions in this country would want everyone to die before 56 or 58 years old. Therefore, if someone is over 56 years old, he is already close to 100 years old. It is important that, from time to time, we know if everything is going well.
To say that President Paul Biya has no reason to continue to delegate the management of the state to people we have not elected, to continue to give procurement to the most sensitive things, for the simple reason that, at his age, he must, through his physical presence, reassure us permanently that everything is better. In short, there is no excuse to give to his absence. People are there to deceive the Cameroonians with false debates, but we have a central question.
Where is the candidate, Paul Biya, who still wants 7 years to celebrate his 100th anniversary as president? We do not know if we must first be resistant to asking these types of questions. How can a president who is 92 years old see it on TV? It’s a match. How can such a president still ask for 7 more years? It is not necessary to first be resistant to realize that in the whole world, in more than 200 countries around the world, Cameroon is the only one where, in 7 years to see the president is the only problem.
Its partisans will say that he acts discreetly. He manages through silence. Including the American presidents, the French, English, German, Japanese and Chinese presidents have not done the same schools of political management through silence.
To realize that a good president is the one who absents himself from the scene for months. These presidents with brilliant economies, with whom we go from time to time to kneel to ask for help. These presidents have not yet understood that the best way to manage a state is with discretion like Paul Biya.
Paul Biya would then be the only president to have assimilated this in the same schools made by these presidents. In addition, we see how the others envy Cameroon. In any case, we understood.
Have a good start of the week.
