Cameroun:the Biya regime is imploding.
Chaos is taking hold at the heart of the inner circle. The mere debate over Paul Biya's candidacy was enough to shatter the CPDM's facade of unity. With less than four days to go before the deadline for convening the electoral body, panic is breaking out at the top of this exhausted regime.
Clans are tearing each other apart, ambitions are clashing, and masks are falling.
• Ngoh Ngoh, supported by Chantal Biya and her clan (Baboke, Mvondo Ayolo), urgently summons officials and ministers to the palace to sell them the illusion that Paul Biya is still in power, only to continue to run the country by proxy and plunder it.
• In response, Jean Nkuété, Secretary General of the CPDM, organizes his own convenings to counter the stranglehold of the "presidential clan."
• Dion Ngute maneuvers in the shadows, gathering his loyalists in Bamenda, far from the hustle and bustle of Yaoundé.
• Ketcha Courtes, summoned by Ngoh Ngoh, dares to ask him: "In whose name are you acting? Why exclude the Secretary General from the party?"
• Laurent Esso, weakened after his illness but lucid, pushes Ngoh Ngoh away with a "Don't come
within five meters of me!" He effectively boycotts Ngoh Ngoh's meeting.
Grégoire Owona talks about a referendum. He believes that only a referendum can decide on Paul Biya's candidacy.
• René Sadi throws out 50/50 paradoxes. For him, Paul Biya "may or may not be" a candidate.
* Fame Ndongo descends into absurdity: he claims, without being convinced, that Biya, whom he hasn't met for a long time, is "100%" a candidate!
• Léon Théiler decrees that any CPDM activist can declare themselves a candidate.
And meanwhile, Paul Biya, weakened, sleepwalks. The medication he's been given is no longer effective. Power has slipped from his grasp... and with it, the regime is slowly collapsing to the benefit of Chantal Biya and her clan.
If you don't see that the house is burning, then you are sleeping more soundly than the head of state himself.
