Nnamdi presumably died due to Negligence, eyewitness reports maintain.

The tragic death of Nigerian businessman Mr. Nnamdi Joseph in Douala has caused outrage among the Nigerian community in Cameroon. What began as a simple report of a stolen car headlamp escalated into a wrongful arrest, medical neglect, and ultimately, a life lost.

During his detention, Mr. Nnamdi’s blood pressure rose to dangerously high levels—193/105—yet he was injected with Tramadol, a powerful painkiller that worsened his condition. This medication was not only inappropriate for his symptoms but also exacerbated his critical state.

Despite his deteriorating health, the police delayed his release for hours, demanding bribes and obstructing medical care. Tragically, Mr. Nnamdi passed away shortly after being rushed to the hospital.

The Nigerian community, led by the Consul General of Nigeria, Ambassador Enya Francis Ntui, demands justice for Mr. Nnamdi. The Consul General has assured the community that the case will be escalated to the Cameroon authorities.

Nigerians in Cameroon continue to do business legally, respecting the country’s laws, and are committed to upholding the values of good citizenship. But unlawful actions by a few individuals within the police force must be addressed to prevent further tragedy
