Former Cameroon minister dies on his birthday

David ABOUEM À TCHOYI has died…He was a former Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic. Former SG/PM
Member of the National Commission on Bilingualism and Multiculturalism.
Born on January 15, 1944 in Kribi, David Abouem A Tchoyi went to primary school in his native village in 1950. His secondary studies took place at the Collège Evangélique de Libamba, from 1957 to 1964. Then, he enrolled at the University of Yaoundé where he obtained a degree in Law in 1967, before entering ENAM, from where he graduated in 1969. He also graduated from IIAP in Paris.
Assigned to the Ministry of Territorial Administration, he will be Head of the Coordination Department, Director of Territorial Organization, and SG from August 31, 1972. For a while, he successively held the following positions:
SG of the Ministry of Planning and Regional Development,
SG of the Ministry of Economy and Planning, and SG of the Prime Minister’s services from July 17, 1975. Then on September 8, 1976, he was appointed Governor of the North-West region, before occupying the same position in the South-West region.
On February 4, 1984, he was appointed SG to the Republic’s Presidency. From August 24, 1985, to November 21, 1986, he was Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
