Alice Nkom, a prominent human rights lawyer and chairperson of the Central Africa Human Rights Defenders Network (REDHAC), has been summoned in a case involving allegations of attempting to undermine state security. The complaint was filed by the Observatoire du Développement Sociétal (ODS), a relatively obscure NGO, which accuses Nkom of financing terrorism and illicitly funding political parties.
The allegations stem from her defiance of administrative orders and her involvement in raising funds to oppose the current government. The case has raised concerns about the potential suppression of dissent and the targeting of human rights defenders under the guise of national security
