Rev. Mokoko Mbue Thomas: Moderator Fonki Samuel, what suddenly happened that you fell out with Rev. Mokoko Mbue Thomas? When you came into office he was communication secretary of the PCC and we could always see him around, is it that he did not aligned to your evil plans about the church? What has he really done that is not forgiveable, to the extent that colleague your close collaborator will take his time to write this write up about him.
PCC Synod Elections 2024 Part Two!
How We are Contributing to make Rev. Dr. Mokoko Thomas Mbue unpopular
Dear Pastors and Presbyterians, as an ardent enthusiast of the Rev. Dr. Mokoko Thomas Mbue (hereafter MTM) I have come to realise that most of our utterances on social media aimed at discounting the authorities of the Church in order to drum support for him are rather inadvertently contributing negatively to make him unpopular. Over the years, I have been a zealous supporter of MTM. I have admired his rise, growth and in-depth knowledge of the Church and society, his forte in theological and pastoral articulation and weight, and dexterity in public conveyance. Even as I speak, my love for him, especially about his pastoral demeanour has not dwindled nor waned, and I am not sure it will anytime soon! Rather, what I am beginning to see to be completely vanishing is his potential as an administrator. This is obviously the latent result of the uncritical support we have given him and the naïve expectations we have of him. You will agree with me that the pastoral calling is more than just preaching a nice sermon, it has to do even more with how manages the crowd around his/herself. While MTM perfective fits the former category, I am afraid he has not been able to effectively shape those of us who have been around him all this while.
MTM is a good listener and someone with the heart to accept every shade of opinion, but he seems not to possess the obstinacy and ability to make critical judgements on what he hears in order to make informed decisions. He is rather a good follower even if he is ahead, than a good leader. My father used to tell me that, no matter how intelligent I become as his child, he reserves the right to critically judge my intelligence in order to help me produce knowledge. My father often told me that unless intelligence produces knowledge, it is useless. While intelligence is the ability to gather facts, knowledge is the skill needed to make good use of intelligence. Leaders are those who gather facts. Not for the sake of gathering, but in order to develop futures strategies. This is what I can objectively say, MTM lacks. You will agree with me that in 2019 he was virtually decoyed to enter into the politics of the Church in an ill prepared way. From the results obtained that year, I can independently say that he simply suffered the woes of the proverbial mosquito who mistook the claps of death for his conquistador’s. While we counted on popular opinions, we failed to realise that elections in the Church are not based on public opinions, but through laid down constitutional structures. I can see that same path being negotiated again this time and with obvious results and consequences.
Come to think of it. I don’t know how we became so foolish and unreasonable to think that as the Communication Secretary of the Church at the time, and direct communicator of the Moderator’s policy and vision, it was appropriate to join ranks with those who intended to replace the sitting Moderator! This act could only be described as witch-hunting and political gerrymandering. This is what those of us who supported him at the time failed to see and so, we led him to sheepishly challenge the one he was communicating for. In fact, we pushed MTM to become an “enemy” in the house and thus to the system. Despite his popularity, we failed to realise that we were only pushing him to fight the same system that gave him the platform to fame. Instead of devising convincing strategies, we took the cheap road of smear campaign. In 2019, we engage in the fabrication of unfounded narratives, irrational exposure of classified ecclesiastical information and gathered a band waggon of rumour spreaders. Despite some of the “truths, half-truths and lies” we concocted and circulated, we only discovered that the silence and unperturbed confidence of our targets won the admiration of the public and rather built their resilience. Despite the blackmail, we realised that it is difficult, if not impossible for an individual to bit a system. Do our people not say that, “no matter how strong a tree is, it cannot make a forest”. Worst is when it is surrounded by those who cannot give the forest its worth. Our irresponsible social media outings full of insults, slander, demeaning languages on the very persons whom the logic of leadership transition describes as baton holders are still showing their ugly heads today after 5 years. This strategy is outdated and rather exposes our candidate as one who is unfit for any top office.
Dear brothers and sisters, dear lovers of MTM anybody who wants to lead a Church cannot get there on the ticket of insults and trying to run others down. Rather, we are creating more problems for our supposed candidate. Maturity in electoral processes demands that candidates present their manifestos in a way that convinces the electorates than insult their opponents. Insults, abuse and the throwing of invectives at opponents only show the kind of system we are suggesting if our candidate eventually ascends the office. I foresee the worst in 2024 if we continue in this way. While I blame MTM’s supporters, I equally put the blame on him for not knowing the kind of friends to keep around him. After all our people say: “show me your friends and I tell you who you are”. Since MTM has never come out publicly to disclaim his alliance with the bearers of such treatises, we don’t need a spin doctor to tell being an accomplice means. Such unfounded discourses make him both politically immature and unprepared to mount such a high ecclesiastical magisterium. Who on earth can leave such a high office in the hands of someone whose most trusted advisers are the very ones preparing to divide the Church they to be struggling to build? It would only be compared to a mad person who is given fire arms in public. He will certainly fire it! The offices of the Moderator and Synod Clerk are not for gossip hawkers and rumour diffusers.
Dear fans of MTM, look at where we have brought our most loved and trusted candidate. We have greatly contributed in ruining the leadership prowess we saw in him before 2019. If you trace his rise and growth in the Church till date, you will realise that none of us who have been supporting him will ever be opportune to receive such favour. Please, I implore his true friends deceased from misleading him, thereby contributing to make him unpopular. What I know about MTM is that he is a good pastor, but I wish to attest here that he may not be a perfect administrator if we go by what I have stated above. I pray we keep him out of politics. It is not an arena for him. He remains a good pastor and an incisive communicator. Let us pray God to keep these gifts with him and guide him to fulfil His will. Let us not encourage him to go into a race whose outcome and consequences we all know. I have seen that we lack the appropriate strategies necessary, and what we have will not produce any results. Someone has said; it is only a fool who employs the same strategies and expects different results. Our strategy of smear campaign has done enough to make MTM unpopular.
My role is to fulfil a pledge: to correct the wrongs of the past. I pray to remain as objective as possible. So, help me Lord. “”
Not long after that another another write up concerning him again, saying he was going to be pinned down in audit by all cause even if it means to use his Presbyterial Treasurer. Is this the level of wickedness in the church of God.
Secret meetings
Can the Moderator of the PCC and his collaborators explain to the pastors and the entire church the reason for secret meetings and the spending of huge sums of church’s money when pastors are dying of adject poverty and the poor christians are trying to see the church grow. What is really at the Synod office hill that Rt. Rev. Fonki Samuel and his collaborators won’t allow us to rest from intimidation. Secret meetings here and there, trying to see how you will buy the consciences of pastors ( voters). Have we now become the Cameroonian nation where the government comes and fool citizens with savon, salt, maggi etc and go only to came back again after five years? As an individual I want to say enough is enough to this non sense in God’s house. God is exposing all your evil plans. As pastor and preachers of the gospel, what are we going to advise the nation about elections when we ourselves are in different. Dear colleagues Reverend Pastors of our darling church below is one of the evil plan of our Moderator and his collaborators that has been exposed. We should take care not to vote some of the names given by the Moderator for the have evil intentions about the church of God. Read below their plan about elections
Dear KPs, after the meeting on Saturday in Buea Town, we resolved that we will narrow down our campaign strategy not to involved the Presbyterial Secretaries. The too much writing is as a result of the Presbyterial Secretaries trying to force down the throats of their Pastors, the list from our Champion. In this light the pastors have been shared into the upper and lower house. A younger Pastor not Rev. Enow Michael will be in charge of the lower house, calling younger pastors whom we know are still strong-headed. While a senior Pastor will be in charge of the upper house, calling older Pastors who are not yet on our side.
However, the role of the Presbyterial Secretaries now will be to ensure that each Pastor will snap his nomination paper and forward to their Presbytery Pastors forum. The Presbyterial Secretaries must give the impression that this is for transparency and so that their ballots are protected. In this wise we will still get those who don’t vote our list and deal with them from December. Stay focused.
Dear KPs I want to congratulate you all who have been working tirelessly and relentlessly to see that our Champion and smart Moderator is always one step ahead.
For those who are still dragging their feet, I hope the lesson of Rev. Ayuk Jones will teach you a better lesson. If we could drop a senior exco member and Moderator attempt, you can be the next. Audit is already on its way to Bafoussam and they have been given firm instructions to pin the PS of West down, even if it means with the assistance of the PT. We are bent to crush anyone against the vision and decision of our Champion. In the days ahead the PS for West will be dropped and suspended after the audit on Monday 23rd September 2024. This will disqualify him for running for any elections even in 2029. No one dares our Champion and goes free. We should know that we are winning and so anyone sitting on the fence should have a second thought. When the PS of West joins his counterpart of Kumba, then we have no more obstacles.
Very Rev. Dr. Asana Festus: We really want to know what wrong our church Father did by cautioning the sitting Moderator Fonki Samuel the so call Champion of the PCC. I wish to ask this question before I continue; Rev. Fonki Samuel, if you and your collaborators asked which right has Pa Asana got to write to a sitting Moderator, which right do you equally have and where is it written in the PCC constitution that the out going Moderator has to give a proposed list of Moderator and Synod Clerk? And to ask you again as the out going Moderator, if there’s a problem in the church won’t you speak as a church father if only you will be seen as one?
I wish to remind the sitting Moderator who has made himself a semi god of the PCC to read Matthew 18: 15-17 and get what it says about correcting a brother. Pa in his write up said he has spoken and given advice to Fonki but he didn’t listen. Had it been Pa kept quiet you people would have still spoken that he has not said anything concerning the crisis in the church as a church father. The biblical verses above outlines three important ways of correcting a fallen brother, even though some of us are blind because of selfish interest to see that Fonki has fallen.
– Go to your brother privately
– If unresolved, bring 1-2 witnesses
– If still unresolved it should be reported to the church.
Mr. Moderator, Synod Clerk, Presbyterial Secretaries and all those to whom Pa’s letter was copied, you all owe Presbyterians and explanation and an apology. Pa wrote to you people, how did it get out of your circle to the extent that the name of the church has been rubbish and Pa been insulted by Jack and Jills. To those who responded to Pa letters with the unfounded stories, it’s not too late to ask for forgiveness apology from Pa, as a brother in Christ I wish to openly tell you people that you were wrong even if pa made a mistake as you call it for he did the right thing that any upright father will will do. Ask your so call champion to be truthful to you how Pa Asana dismissed his father’s godson, Rev. Gala Otto Neba because of him. All what you guys said about Pa Asana are false stories but remember God is watching at each and every one of us, and has our rewards.
