REVISITING THE POPE’S EVENTUAL OFFICIAL VISIT TO CAMEROON
What are the expectations of the average Cameroonian Citizen on this highly publicized Papal visit?
Will our government, as usual, seize the opportunity to obfuscate realities and bury the problems all of us (at least the silent majority) are facing in their usual Langues de Bois Le Pays se porte bien?
Listening to a panel discussion on TV, the majority of Francophone pundits believed that
“Le Président de la République doit faire une Geste très forte pour la réconciliation des CameroUnais”.
To them, the President’s “Gestes Forts” includes:
1) Releasing Njeukam Tchameni
2) Bringing back Issa Tchiroma
3) Releasing MRC political detainees
4) Bringing some Opposition characters into the next government
I kid you not.
Sissiku Ayuk Tabe, Bibixie Mancho, Nera 10 kidnapped Leaders and many other Anglophone Prisoners under the Military Justice system and who are still under custody for almost twelve years now…did not rise to the level for our Francophone brothers to consider as “Les Gestes Forts du President de la Republique avant l’arrivee du Pape”.
How then and why should we Anglophones trust our Francophone brothers if the Anglophone Crisis does not constitute a Presidential “Gestes Forts”?
I don’t have anything against Djeukam Tchameni or other MRC jailed Militants.
I have something against selective amnesia.
Bishop Kleida, in his characteristic style, just said that the government thus far has not made any moves that tend towards reconciling and appeasing feuding Cameroonians.
What do you think the President should do if you had to give your own small piece of advice?
