Russia-Africa Partnership Forum: Cameroon Salutes Cooperation With Russia

Cameroon has been strengthening its diplomatic ties with Russia in recent years. This cooperation spans various sectors, including politics, security, economics, science and technology, culture, research, and humanitarian affairs. Several significant events and agreements have marked the relationship between the two countries.

One notable event is the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, where Cameroon’s External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella, is leading the Cameroonian delegation. This forum aims to enhance cooperation between Russia and African nations, focusing on areas such as trade, economic cooperation, investment partnerships, education, science, and regional security.

In April 2022, Cameroon and Russia signed a military cooperation agreement, further boosting their military ties. This agreement includes the exchange of opinions and information in international defense and security policy, training troops, military education, medicine, and topography. The agreement is part of Russia’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in Africa and support counter-terrorism efforts in the region

The cooperation between Cameroon and Russia is also evident in the economic sector. The Russia-Africa Expo 2024 highlighted the growing business relations between the two regions, with a focus on expanding trade and investment opportunities. This expo brought together numerous participants from both Russia and Africa, showcasing the potential for mutually beneficial projects and partnerships.

Overall, the strengthening of diplomatic ties between Cameroon and Russia reflects a strategic partnership aimed at addressing common challenges and promoting development in various sectors.
