The Philosopher Bawe Louis Tarawo, reflects here that, Cameroonians must distinguish between a state and a government, that the state is like a football field wherein teams (governments) come and go while the field remains. His reflection falls in line with the stalemate that has befallen Cameroon where the CPDM ruling junta has held the country hostage for over four decades and is not ready to relinquish power anytime soon.
Unsurprisingly, many Cameroonians do not know the distinction between the State and the Government. Even the CPDM minister attacking the Bishops did not know that the Church signed a Contract with the State of Cameroon and not with the CPDM Government of Cameroon. Even President BIYA says that long live Cameroon not long live the CPDM. The difference is that while the state is permanent, the government changes. The state by analogy is like a football field while the government is like the teams that come and go. Unfortunately, the long tenure of CNU and CPDM in power has made the difference between state and government disappear from Cameroonians’ national consciousness. The greatest enemy of the state of Cameroon is the CPDM government which has destroyed the national pride and sense of patriotism. So the Cameroon Bishops expected to be critical sound minds are not against the state but against the bad government. We don’t elect a state. We elect a government and when a government becomes diabolic it should not be re-elected. It is very easy to be wise. Just think of a stupid idea like electing CPDM and do the opposite. The Bishops are for the State and against the CPDM government. Make no mistake.
