THE POPE WAS NOT ELECTED BY CARDINALS,

THE POPE WAS NOT ELECTED BY CARDINALS, BUT ELECTED DIRECTLY BY JESUS CHRIST.
The process of selection of the Pope in the Catholic Church is truly unique and full of symbolism. The Cardinals did not elect the Pope directly, but through a process called “conclave”. The Cardinals filed the names of Pope candidates, then cast their vote by burning paper. Paper that does not burn is considered entirely the chosen sign of the Lord Jesus Christ. After this process, the pope-elect was announced by the cardinals. This process demonstrates the Catholic Church’s trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit in choosing spiritual leaders of Catholics around the world.
