The world’s oldest, longest-serving tyrant, Paul Biya of Cameroon Clocks 93 today
The long-serving president of Cameroon celebrates his 93rd birthday today, February 13, 2026. Born on February 13, 1933, five years before World War II, he came to power on November 6, 1982. He has been in power for 43 years. These years, added to his years in the higher corridors of power, are above 60 years in very high offices.
Paul Biya’s public appearances are extremely rare. Throughout the year, Cameroonians see their president only three times: During pre-recorded speeches broadcast on television for national events (end-of-year celebrations on January 31 and Youth Day on February 10).
He is very seldom in Cameroon as he spends most of his time in the luxurious Swiss inter – Continental Hotel.
He will be remembered for having admitted in an interview to Business Mugos, Mooh Ibrahim, that French Cameroon had struggled to completely assimilate the Southern Cameroonians – Ambazonians and wipe them off the map unsuccessfully.
It is worthy to note that this date of birth is facultative
