CAMEROON AND THE HYDRA GOVERNMENT
The Biya regime is one with as many heads as there are ministers. You would hardly know who the head of government is, who the minister of communication is, who the minister of defence is, and who the president of the republic is. You will see this boldly printed on decrees purportedly signed by the centenarian president of the republic. On the field, it is a sheer cacophony of authority, communication, and policies with glaring cross-purposes and intent. A functional government should have the same policies, same communication, and same goals. While Dion Ngute was busy narrating a surreal and novel lesson on conflict resolution in the southwest, his colleague le jeune Bella Bella was dishing out a contrasting narrative at the UN. A couple of years ago a smiling peace plant carrying PM was in bamenda narrating a peace process that will englobe all major stakeholders. His colleague Atanga Nji was on France 24 virtually negating and belittling the PMs message. In the run up to the 2025 electoral banditry Rene Sadi when asked about Biya,s candidacy declared that the chances were 50/50. Minutes after this declaration by the communication minister, Fame Ndongo organized a press conference in which he declared that Biya will be 1000% a candidate. During the port saga of last year Dion Ngute was dishing orders while simultaneously Ngoh Ngoh was issuing counter orders based on the concept of “hautes instructions”. When the ailing president went for a ”brief” stay of close to 80 days in the Alps of Switzerland, not less than 8 government monsters sorry I mean ministers belaboured in vain to define the phrase” brief stay”. If they were confused as to it’s definition, they were even more confused as to when their king will come back to land. They engaged in a kangaroo dance of voodoo conjectures and conflicting utterances. When seamlessness, sameness and uniformity are wanting in governance the ultimate scenario is cacophony, lack of purpose and focus. There is only one outcome. A highly indebted, and dangerously poor country where jungle law reigns and impunity administers
