A woman lynched in Yaoundé by crowd after allegedly Stealing a baby

An incident occurred on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in the Ekounou neighborhood of Yaoundé, the political capital of 237 (Cameroon). A woman in her thirties stole a baby in the Ekounou district at around 5 p.m. The neighborhood of Ekounou is located in the Yaoundé IV district commune within the Yaoundé urban community.

The woman took advantage of the parents’ absence and stole a 6-month-old baby from a home. The baby was in the courtyard with his 11-year-old sister, Nancy, at the time. The thief approached Nancy, asked for the mother, and then requested water to drink. While Nancy went inside the house to get water, the thief seized the opportunity to steal the baby and fled.

Nancy saw the thief running away with her little sister and started screaming to alert the neighbors. The thief, whose identity has not been revealed, was apprehended and taken to the Ekounou police station. It was also reported that the same woman had stolen a baby in the Nkomo district of Yaoundé the day before and managed to escape.
