Central African Football Federation Challenges Rigobert Song’s Appointment as National Team Manager

The Central African Football Federation (CAFF) is contesting the appointment of Rigobert Song as the manager of the national team. The federation claims it was not consulted before the decision was made by the country’s Minister of Sports. They expressed their surprise and dismay, stating that they learned about the appointment through social media.

The federation emphasized that the recruitment of members for the national team’s coaching staff falls under its exclusive jurisdiction. They had previously decided to nationalize the position of head coach for the senior national team, entrusting it to an entirely Central African technical staff led by Éloge Enza Yamissi.

This controversy comes after Song’s appointment was officially announced on January 13, 2025. He succeeds Swiss coach Raoul Savoy, who was dismissed after the Central African Republic suffered back-to-back defeats in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers
