Cameroun, Maurice Kamto should take his responsibility
The MRC national president, in a new statement, calls on his supporters to be ready to “retaliate when the time comes” against any impediment to his candidacy in the 2025 presidential election.
My take:
Most Ambazonians know Camerounais as dogs that bark but run away when frightened.
In 1990, when the SDF was about to be launched, most Camerounais, especially Professor Maurice Kamto’s tribesmen, packed their bags and vamoosed from Bamenda at least a week to Saturday, 26th May 1990. As they were crossing Matazim, some echoed that “nous ne voulons plus mourir; nous avions perdus nous parents pendant la guerre de marquis.” Having run away from Bamenda during the successful launching of the SDF (not forgetting the assassination of 6 Ambazonians) Professor Maurice Kamto’s brethren fine-tuned their language and later averred that “we are brothers; we fought and got multipartism together.” What a lie, told at midday when the sun is shining brightly!
In 1993, during the fight for UB and the creation of the GCE Board, Professor Maurice Kamto’s kindreds, watching us from a distance, ran away when the police used water cannons and fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. Those of us arrested were tortured and maimed; some lost their lives. One of my buddies who lost his eye in the struggle died 4 years ago. We won’t forget those who spent months in prison. Giving another slap on the face of the Ambazonians, the regime created the BAC Board first, which was not even called for. Haven’t Ambazonians sacrificed a lot for La RĂ©publique du Cameroun citizens since 1961?
Surprisingly and disrespectfully so, the Biya junta announced the creation of Office de BACC and the universities of Soa, Dschang, Ngaoundere, etc. Ambazonians whose demands were met but got tortured, maimed and imprisoned and even died, got a watered down GCE Board and a “national” UB, not the Anglo-Saxon university we were glamouring for. We remember Pa John Ngu Foncha in his 1990 resignation from the CPDM, attesting the fact that he was almost killed while in La RĂ©publique du Cameroun in the 1960s, making peace between the Ahidjo junta and the “maquisards.”
Fast forward to 2017
When our lawyers and teachers took to the streets, Professor Maurice Kamto’s government responded with brute force – maiming and killing our people. Their actions ended our demands for “two federated states of equal status” to “outright restoration”.
Again, for love of their country, Professor Maurice Kamto and his brethren contributed billions and gave Biya to crush us within two weeks. That was in 2017. Today, we are only getting better and stronger than ever before. Inter alia, the recent clinical popcorn in Bamessing by the ASA under late Field Marshal Sargon is a clear testament to how far we have improved.
Remember Cardinal Tumi’s survey wherein 69% of Ambazonians said they wanted “absolute separation.” Having lost over 70,000 civilians, 500 villages burnt, etc., can anyone in his right senses still talk about federating or joining forces with these people? No way!
It’s time for Camerounais(e)s, I mean Professor Maurice Kamto’s brothers and sisters, to take their destiny into their hands. Ambazonians are no longer going to be their guinea pigs. It’s over! In fact, it has been over since 1 October 2017.
Dear Ambazonians:
Wherever you are, tell all our compatriots, especially those in the major cities of YaoundĂ©, Douala, Bafoussam, Dschang, etc., to steer clear of anything that has to do with protests, politicking, and electioneering in La RĂ©publique du Cameroun. Professor Maurice Kamto may disagree with President Paul Biya or any of his compatriots, but all of them- Kamto, Biya, Elimbi, Cabral Libii, Ndoki Michèle, etc agreed that Ambazonia should remain their slaves ad infinitum. Didn’t we see Professor Maurice Kamto going to deliver an important missive “on the Bakassi peninsula” to Biya in their Etoudi Palais? Because of his love for his country and their institutions, he went there himself; he didn’t send one of his comrades. He put the interest of their country above his. As Professor Maurice Kamto showed love for his country and its institutions, I urge every well-meaning Ambazonian to do the same. We should love our country and government. We should do this by massively drafting.
Let’s be clear on Camerounais’ Professor Maurice Kamto and co. and the Ambazonian Quest for Sovereign Independence: Professor Maurice Kamto and his brethren are fighting to replace Biya in their Etoudi Palais, while we [Ambazonians] are at war with his country to start exercising sovereignty over our territory, in tandem with all international instruments beginning with the 1919 Treaty of Versailles. Thus, our battles are different. In other words, Professor Maurice Kamto’s fight is for regime change in YaoundĂ©, while we are fighting to regain our sovereign independence, manipulated and confiscated in 1961.
In sum, and thank God, September 2025 is not far from now. From across Matazim and the Mungo bridge, etc., we are watching and waiting for Kamto et al. to “retaliate when the time comes” against any impediment to his candidacy in the 2025 presidential election.
