The church does not pay ransom but colludes with corrupt governments
Today, November 26, marks the deadline set by Archbishop Andrew Nkea of Bamenda for the release of Rev. Fr. John Berinyuy Tatah, who was abducted by armed Ambazonia separatist fighters together with other clergy on November 15 and 18. Despite repeated appeals, he remains in captivity.
The Church has rejected ransom demands, with Archbishop Nkea insisting, “The Church does not pay ransoms.”
If the priest is not freed by Wednesday, all parishes, schools, and Catholic institutions in the Ndop Deanery will shut down, and priests will withdraw from the area until further notice. A protest march to Baba I is planned for November 28, should the hostages remain detained.
Archbishop Nkea has urged all sides to seek peace, stressing that kidnappings must end as the Anglophone crisis nears its ninth year.
Let the CPDM militants in cassocks, calling themselves men or women of God who spend time preaching and praying for peace through oppression and fraud, follow the example of Pope Leo XIV and preach/pray for Justice because Justice automatically brings Peace.
