Zimbabwe has officially applied to join BRICS, the powerful group of emerging economies.
The announcement was made by Foreign Minister Amon Murwira during a visit to Moscow, Russia.
Zimbabwe is now talking with all BRICS member countries as part of the application process.
Officials also say some countries have already shown support, including Russia.
If accepted, Zimbabwe would join a group that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
