OUT GONE BENIN PRESIDENT, WISHES SIT-TIGHT CAMEROON PRESIDENT GOOD HEALTH
The outgoing president of Benin, Patrice Talon, has wished his sit-tight counterpart, Paul Biya of Cameroon, good health and happiness.
This came as part of Talon’s congratulations to Biya for the successful celebration of National Day on May 20.
This is Talon’s last message as president of Benin to his Cameroonian colleague.
Talon is leaving power on Sunday, as the people of Benin voted for a new president last April.
Patrice Talon came to power and did not amend the constitution to allow him to run for office until his death.
Instead, he focused on developing and transforming Benin into an Eldorado.
He did so while respecting the presidential term limits, which are one term of five years, renewable once.
Before he came to power in 2016, President Paul Biya had been ruling for 34 years. Now, Talon is leaving in two days, and Paul Biya is beginning his eighth term and is likely to rule for more than half a century.
