AMBAZONIA
A former Cameroonian Minister of Communication Mr Issa Tchiroma Bakary has publicly apologized for previously claiming that Ambazonians had no issues coexisting with Cameroon. He acknowledged being misled by Cameroon’s colonial-style government, led by a French-backed president often regarded as a puppet. The former minister now calls for direct negotiations between Cameroon and Ambazonia, stating that dialogue is the only viable solution to the ongoing conflict. This development comes shortly after Cameroon signed a military agreement with Russia, reportedly aimed at discouraging Russian support for Ambazonia’s decolonization movement. This move follows Russia’s recent call at the United Nations, urging that the root causes of the Cameroon-Ambazonia conflict be addressed through negotiations, emphasizing that only a political solution can bring lasting peace to the region.
Your thoughts:
How can Africa, as a continent, work towards decolonization from Western imperial powers, considering the situation in Ambazonia being colonized by the West using Cameroun as a proxy?
