*Round Table “Outcomes of World War II and the Collapse of the Global Colonial System”* 

On June 9, 2025, the Moscow House of Nationalities hosted a round table titled “Outcomes of World War II and the Collapse of the Global Colonial System,” organized by the Commission on Public Security and People’s Diplomacy of the Council on Nationalities under the Moscow Government. The event was held with active participation from the Russian-African Club of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), the United Center for Business Cooperation of the SCO Business Communities Association, and the Public Diplomacy Foundation. 

The round table was part of the historical-patriotic project “Heirs of Russian Military Glory,” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people’s victory in the Great Patriotic War. Participants included diplomats, scholars, educators, representatives of ethnic-cultural organizations, members of the Council on Nationalities under the Moscow Government, public opinion leaders, and cultural figures. 

 *Key Discussions* 

The moderator, *Alexander F. Berdnikov* (Chair of the Commission on Public Security and People’s Diplomacy, Executive Secretary of MSU’s Russian-African Club), outlined the event’s goals: to analyze the military, geopolitical, diplomatic, economic, and cultural-historical outcomes of WWII and the Great Patriotic War, while countering attempts to revise history that threaten Russia’s international standing and security as the legal successor to the USSR and a permanent UN Security Council member. 

*Sergey S. Anufrienko*, Director of the Moscow House of Nationalities, emphasized the global significance of the Allied victory over fascism and Japanese militarism, which saved humanity from enslavement and inspired anti-colonial liberation movements worldwide. 

*Themes Addressed* 

  1. The Yalta-Potsdam world order and the USSR’s decisive role in defeating the Axis powers.
  2. Contributions of Asian and African colonies to the anti-fascist struggle.
  3. Combating neo-fascism, historical revisionism, and youth indoctrination.
  4. Russia’s cooperation with Africa in culture, education, and “art diplomacy,” including proposals for a Russian-African Commission on Military History.
  5. Strengthening the International Peacebuilding Organization to counter neo-Nazi ideologies.

– Participants adopted an appeal to the Russian State Duma to memorialize African fighters in the Allied forces and European resistance movements. 

– Emphasis on expanding ties among BRICS, SCO, ASEAN, and CELAC, aligning with President Putin’s Greater Eurasian Partnership initiative. 

– Recognition of Russia’s role in supporting African sovereignty and a multipolar world order. 

The event underscored the enduring legacy of WWII and the need to preserve historical truth against distortion.
