From Nomads to Modern Arenas: National Sports as a Dialogue Tool

A National Sports venue promises to be one of the highlights of the First World Public Assembly. Its participants will gather for a Panel Session supported by the Committee on National and Non-Olympic Sports of Russia: “National Sports as a Universal Tool for Creating an Integration Model of International Cooperation.” Here, sport takes on a new dimension — diplomatic and cultural.

In fact, it’s simple: national sports unite cultures, strengthen ties between nations and promote a healthy lifestyle. Participants of the World Public Assembly sports ground will discuss successful practices of popularization of ethnic sports. In particular, the experience of hosting the World Nomad Games and the World Games of Indigenous Peoples is on the agenda.

The World Nomad Games, established by Kyrgyzstan, have become a unique cultural and sporting event in the life of a vast region of Eurasia and the planet as a whole. In a number of ways, this phenomenal project is a surprisingly positive example of the embodiment of a truly Great Eurasian Partnership. The Games are growing in quantity and quality, embodying their special concept in new formats, adding events and meanings, bringing people and nations together,” said Boris Grishin, President of the National Olympic Committee of Russia.

Khan Khalil Ahmed, President of the UNESCO International Council for Traditional Sports and Games from Pakistan, will send greetings to the participants of the WPA sports ground. Among the speakers: Boris Grishin, the Committee on National and Non-Olympic Sports of Russia, as well as Mariano Justino Marcos Terena, author of the World Games of the Indigenous Peoples of the World, leader of the indigenous peoples of Brazil.
