President Paul Biya recently welcomed Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, at the Unity Palace. This meeting marked the 10th anniversary of the Framework Agreement between Cameroon and the Holy See, ratified in July 2014.
During their one-hour audience, they discussed various issues of mutual interest, including the longstanding and cordial relationship between Yaoundé and the Vatican. They also reviewed the current international situation, focusing on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the war in the Middle East, the general situation in Africa, and the prospects for the new American President.
Archbishop Gallagher commended the excellent relationship with the Catholic Bishops of Cameroon and highlighted the country’s active and determined Catholic community. This visit underscores the strong ties between Cameroon and the Holy See, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.
