The difference between Eto’o and George Weah?
Does anyone see the connection between this abundant praise singing of Mr Eto’o Fils and his sitting beside the very charismatic and very popular Burkina Faso leader?
Everyone, by now knows Eto’o wants to be the next George Weah of Africa i.e. from Soccer to the Presidency of CameRUIN.
Mr Fils used his Football popularity amongst Cameroonian youths to start beefing up his CV by hobnobbing various African Capitals and schmoozing with their Presidents.
George Weah, after a successful Soccer career, went back to school. He entered Politics by going to Congress as a Parliamentarian. He was humble enough to study the intricacies and nuances of governance. He ran for President the first time and lost but came back again 4 years later and won, beating an incumbent.
Bilan after his term of Office?
Complete Disaster and Catastrophic Failure. I know GW personally. He stayed with me for a while at my modest Cite Verte Residence in Yaounde. Milla Roger was equally our neighbor (add Henri Eyebe Ayissi, Shey Jones Yembe, late Ebssy Ngum, Siyam Siewe, Maitre Ejanguele Djengue etc (Yes, all of us were Cite Verte Residents…when Yaounde was Yaounde) and all of us were Soccer Officialdoms (players cum sponsors of Tonnerre Kalara Club).
George Weah refused to even interact with some of us who knew him before his legs brought him fame and a lot of money. I went to Monrovia and after a week of trying to book an Audience to meet with him, I shamefully returned to Maryland.
He is in the United States trying to hook up with old friends.
As for Mr Fils Eto’o, the moment he threw his weight and popularity behind the RDPC and Chantal Biya, I smelled a rat.
He was given Fecafoot as compensation for his support.
We have been keenly watching his managerial prowess.
I dare posit that after almost four years in office as Chairman of Fecafoot; all his promises of revamping Sports in Cameroon and Football in particular, Mr Fils Eto’o is just HOT AIR Braggadocio and empty Mvoum.
Like Weah, he has ABSOLUTELY Nothing and I mean NATTY to become President of a very Confused Cameroun.
Yes. Before some of you start asking questions, Ex-President George Weah came to Maryland and through some mutual friends, wanted to hook up with me. Unfortunately, I was in Lagos at the time. He didn’t leave a phone number hence; I couldn’t call him back.
In my Book, a friend remains a friend. Live is too short to be bearing unnecessary grudges with anyone. He was not obligated to meet with me since he owed me nothing.
For his die-hard fanatical FB and other Social Media supporters, Mr Fils Eto’o CANNOT and will NOT dance his way to Cameroun Presidency via Photo-Ops with African popular Presidents. Period, end of story
