On World Teachers’ Day, Joshua Osih, the Social Democratic Front (SDF) Presidential Candidate, released a strongly worded message titled “TRIBUTE TO TEACHERS,” outlining a four-pillar plan to transform the education sector and elevate the status of teachers in Cameroon. The message, issued, described the current conditions for educators as a “turning point” moment for the nation.
Osih acknowledged the profound contributions of teachers, stating, “You have given everything to this nation: your knowledge, your patience, your love for learning, and your belief in the future.” However, he sharply criticised their current treatment, citing that teachers “are still among the most undervalued professionals in our society,” suffering from salaries “among the lowest in Africa,” overcrowded classrooms, insufficient materials, and uncertain social protection.
“You deserve better, and together, we can make it happen,” Osih declared. He positioned his commitment to teachers and education as “the beating heart of our national revival.”
