Traditional Rulers and Population of Mbengwi Oppose Signed Order by SDO to Create New Village
The creation of Mbengwiteghenibi village in Mbengwi, Momo Division, North West Region, is facing growing opposition as traditional authorities and denizens challenge an administrative order reportedly signed on December 13, 2025, by the Senior Divisional Officer for Momo, Fouda Etabe Benoit.
Community leaders argue the process lacked proper consultation and risks disrupting existing governance and land structures.
Mayor Ndangsa Kennedy Akam, who also signed a memorandum opposing the move, says he was not aware of the creation plan and would have recommended prior consultations with traditional rulers.
Protests remain peaceful as calls for dialogue and transparency intensify.
