POPE LEO APPOINTS 5 NEW AFRICANS – 2 NIGERIANS.

The Holy Father Pope Leo has appointed three African prelates as Members of the highest-ranking Vatican Dicastery for Evangelization (Section for First Evangelization and New Particular Churches).

The prelates are:

1. Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besungu, OFM Cap – Archbishop of Kinshasa (DR Congo).

2. Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins – Archbishop of Lagos (Nigeria).

3. Most Rev. Andrew Nkea Fuanya – Archbishop of Bamenda (Cameroon).

The Pope also appointed as Consultors of the same Dicastery the following Africans:

4. Most Rev. François Sylla – Archbishop of Conakry (Guinea).

5. Father Wenceslaus C. Madu, C.M.F. – Vice-Chancellor of the Claretian University of Nigeria in Nekede (Nigeria).

Wishing them divine wisdom in their service to the Holy See.
