President Biya Appoints 5 New Generals While on his sickbed in Geneva

☆ General Nka Valere Replaces Late General Philip Mpay as Commander of Military & Para-military Training Schools

☆ Colonel Abondo Jean Charles Elevated to General & Appointed Commander of Presidential Guards Corps

♧ The Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Cameroon Armed Forces, Paul Biya, has, this 3rd day of August, 2026, while on his sickbed in Geneva, signed decrees assigning some Generals to new command posts and elevating five colonels to the rank of General.

In the new appointments, General Nka Valere was appointed to replace late General Philip Mpay as the new Commander of Cameroon’s Military and Para-military Training Schools.

General Nka Valere is remembered for his contributions to the fight against the Separatists in the Northwest and, later, against the Boko Haram insurgency in the Far North, where he served with abnegation and commitment.

He will then be expected to transfer his rich knowledge, skills and field experiences in the formation of young and other soldiers across Cameroon’s Military and paramilitary training schools and centres.

Col. Beko’o Abondo Raised to Rank of General, Appointed Presidential Guards Commander

Col. Beko’o Abondo Raymond Jean Charles is one of five colonels who were this evening promoted to the rank of a General.

Col. Beko’o, following his promotion, was equally appointed as the Commander of the Presidential Guards Corps.

One More Anglophone Raised to a General

This evening, one more Anglophone was equally promoted to the rank of a General.

That’s Colonel Epie Ngome Wilson from the infantry, who is one among six colonels who were this evening raised to the rank of a Brigadier General.

General Ngome’s appointment thus brings to five the number of Anglophone Generals serving in the Cameroon military viz: –

1) Major General Ivo DeSantis Yenwo who is serving as the Director of the Presidential Security.

2) Major General Elokobi Daniel Njock who is serving as the Director of Coordination at the National Gendarmerie

3) Rear Admiral ( Major General in the Navy) Ade Nkwenti Hilary who was, today, appointed as the new Commander of the 3rd Joint Military Region – that’s the North Region and the Adamawa Region. Rear Admiral Nkwenti shall be expected to use his savvy and wisdom to ensure peace and security in these two Regions.

4) Brigadier General Agha Robinson Ndong, who was, by Biya’s Decree today, appointed to a new position to serve as Logistics Adviser in the Ministry of Defence.

Before his new appointment, he was serving as the Commander of the 4th Joint Military Region – that’s the Far North Region of the country, where he had been coordinating the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency.

5) Brigadier General Eko Ngwesse Nnoko Divine, who is in charge of the 2nd Gendarmerie Region – the Littoral and the Southwest Regions

6) Newly promoted Brigadier General Wilson Epie Ngome.
