Alleged Serial Robbers Arrested.
Following a series of armed robberies committed over the past 48 hours in the city of Douala, Colonel Jean Pierre Otoulou, commander of the Littoral Gendarmerie Legion, set up a surveillance operation that led to the arrest on Tuesday, May 13, of two alleged perpetrators of the robberies and an accomplice. This came after an exchange of gunfire between gendarmes and the robbers. A third robber died from a bullet wound. The toll includes a moto taxi driver injured by the robbers’ gunfire; two accomplices and a receiver arrested; two automatic pistols, two machetes, and a dagger seized.
The gang operated at the Bekoko and Ange Raphaël service stations and two Orange Money kiosks. The alleged robber killed by gunfire was supposed to be incarcerated at the New Bell Central Prison. Colonel Otoulou thanked taxi drivers for their collaboration and reassured the public of the gendarmerie’s firm commitment to ensuring their protection and that of their property.
