Akere Muna Message on World Press Freedom Day

Message on World Press Freedom Day

On this World Press Freedom Day, I extend my sincere appreciation and solidarity to the journalists of Cameroon, whose work remains essential to truth, accountability, and democracy.

A free and responsible press is one of the strongest pillars of good governance. In often difficult and demanding circumstances, journalists continue to inform the public, give voice to the voiceless, and hold power to account. Their courage and professionalism deserve our respect and protection.

Today is a reminder that press freedom is not a privilege; it is a fundamental right and a necessary condition for justice, transparency, and national progress.

To all journalists in Cameroon, I encourage you to remain steadfast in your mission. Your role is vital to the future of our nation.
