A multitude thronged to the Yaounde General Hospital mortuary this Thursday, June 11, to pay tribute to the late vice president of the Senate, Nfor Tabetando Ndiep-Nso, who died in April.
The body of the late traditional ruler of Bachuo-Ntai was removed from the mortuary in the morning, followed by a brief mass led by Mgr. Sosthene Leopold Bayemi, Bishop of Obala, in the presence of Prime Minister Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, lawmakers, government officials, traditional rulers, and family members.
A standout moment was the procession and traditional ritual led by the Ekpe Society, an elite cult in Manyu Division.
The hospital event was followed by parliamentary honours, where senior lawmakers paid their last respects to a man described as a committed Christian, professional lawyer, and astute politician who remained loyal to the Biya regime as a top-ranking member of the CPDM party until his death.
The funeral continues in Douala tomorrow with judicial honours at the Court of Appeal Bonanjo, followed by departure for Bachuo-Ntai, where a late-night mass will be held at the palace.
He will be buried on Saturday, June 13, after a final mass at the Mamfe Cathedral.
