Sermon on Matthew 11:1-6: A Message for Cameroon on Elections.

Beloved Cameroonians, dear compatriots, as we approach this pivotal moment in our nation’s history—the elections—I want to remind you of the powerful message found in Matthew 11:1-6. This passage speaks volumes about expectation, hope, and the fulfilment of God’s promises.
John the Baptist, a mighty prophet, found himself imprisoned and questioning the very essence of his faith. Despite his earlier proclamation of Jesus as the Lamb of God, he sent his disciples to ask, “Are you the one who is to come?” This moment of doubt is significant. It reminds us that even the strongest among us can face uncertainty.
As we stand on the brink of elections, many of us may feel a similar anxiety. We may question whether our presidential candidates will bring the change we desire. Will they truly represent the values we hold dear? In times of uncertainty, it’s essential to seek clarity and confirmation.
Jesus responds to John’s inquiry not with a direct answer but with evidence —“Go back and report to John what you hear and see.” He points to tangible actions: the blind see, the lame walk, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.
In our electoral landscape, we must look for the fruits of leadership. What have our candidates accomplished? What evidence do they provide that they will serve the people? As citizens, we must be discerning and seek leaders who demonstrate compassion, integrity, and a commitment to uplift our communities.
Jesus concludes with a blessing: “Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” This is a call to faith, even amidst doubt. Cameroon, as we prepare to cast our votes, let us remember that our faith should not waver. We are called to engage in the process, to participate actively, and to trust in God’s plan for our nation.
As we approach the polls, I urge you to listen, observe, and reflect. Look for leaders who embody the values of justice, peace, and service. Let your vote be a reflection of your faith, grounded in the hope that God has a purpose for Cameroon.
In these elections, let us not merely seek change but strive for transformation—transformation that aligns with the heart of God. May we be blessed as we step forward in faith, trusting in the One who holds our future.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of leadership and the opportunity to choose our leaders. Grant us wisdom as we cast our votes. May we seek candidates who reflect Your love and justice. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
