President Issa Tchiroma Bakary’s Party will not take part in the regional council elections

Issa Tchiroma Bakary has denied claims that his party, the Cameroon National Salvation Front, will take part in the upcoming regional elections.

He reacted on Thursday, following an article in a local newspaper claiming that the CNSF will be part of the election of regional councillors.

“In the current context of national mourning, profound moral turmoil, and a major post-election crisis, the CNSF cannot afford to normalise any form of institutional activity,” Tchiroma said.

That is because the CNSF is just from an election marked by massive fraud, the confiscation of the popular verdict, and bloody repression that has cost the lives of many compatriots. To Tchiroma, looking at circumstances, any participation in an electoral process organised by contested institutions would amount to legitimising disorder and turning our backs on the sacrifice of those who fell for democracy.

Issa Tchiroma Bakary, currently in The Gambia, is the actual winner in the October 12 presidential election in Cameroon.

He has stated several times that he is the legitimate president-elect and has vowed to fight to reclaim his “stolen” victory.

“I solemnly reiterate that the focus of our struggle remains popular legitimacy, historical justice, and the moral reconstruction of our country. This requires each of us to be rigorous, disciplined, and loyal to the higher interests of Cameroon.” While acknowledging the commitment from Cameroonians, he urged for no distraction, no local manoeuvring, or individual statement, even if reported in the press, as it will divert them from the course they have collectively set for themselves.

“Cameroon deserves better than amnesia and compromise. It demands memory, responsibility, and vision.” He added
