Dr. Ateh Bazor Re-elected President of the Board of Directors of SONACAM
The General Assembly of the Cameroon National Society of Musical Arts (SONACAM) ended in a jubilant atmosphere, with the overwhelming election of Dr. Ateh Bazor as President of the Board of Directors.
According to the final results announced after the vote, the new board chairman secured 733 votes against 45 for his opponent, who had reportedly withdrawn before the election. Seven ballots were declared invalid. The landslide victory reflects the strong support of a large majority of member artists for the vision carried by the winner.
At the venue hosting the assembly, songs, cheers, hugs and celebrations erupted as the results were announced. For many artists in attendance, the vote represents a desire to move past months of tension and restore stability within the artists’ organization.
