An unprecedented scandal is shaking the Cameroonian educational system. The results of the General Education Baccalaureate, which have not yet been officially released by the Office du Baccalauréat du Cameroun (OBC), are already circulating on social media.
The results of the Bac C from the Lycée Bilingue de Dschang have thus been exposed to the public, creating a national uproar.
This leak comes as the Baccalaureate and Probatoire exams have been marred by the widespread circulation of corrected exam papers online.
Despite complaints and concerns from parents and teachers, the Ministry of Secondary Education has remained silent, taking no measures to curb these leaks.
The phenomenon, dubbed by Paul Chouta as “l’eau des épreuves,” refers to illicitly sharing exam questions before the tests. Today, Cameroon seems to have reached a new stage with what could be called “l’eau des résultats,” where exam results surface before their official publication.
The leak of the results discredits the efforts of students who have worked hard to pass their exams.
