Veteran Anglophone journalist Tim Finnian has died in Bamenda.
The cause of death has not been announced by his family at press time.
Finnian was an independent and bold journalist who reported on the plight of Anglophones, with one story he published landing him in jail for seven months. The year was 2017, and Finnian reported in his ‘Lifetime’ newspaper at the time that two Anglophones had died while being held in military custody.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) called for his release at the time.
Tim Finnian remained resolute in his undiluted journalism, covering many stories from and around Bamenda – even at great personal risk. His strong journalistic legacy lives on through the many readers and young reporters he impacted.
He was in his early 50s.
