Southern Cameroon, Ambazonia War of Independence, 3 More Soldiers Killed

THREE LRC SOLDIERS REPORTEDLY KILLED IN MATOUKE-KOTTO AMBUSH September 23, 2026:Three soldiers of La République du Cameroun (LRC) have reportedly been killed in an ambush attributed to Ambazonian fighters along the Matouke–Kotto axis in the Moungo Division of the Littoral Region, close to the border with Ambazonia’s Atlantic zone. According to a report circulated by N’ZUI MANTO, the targeted troops were elements of the 23rd BIM detachment based at Matouke. The three soldiers identified in the report are: – Sergeant Ateba Olanguena – Corporal-Chef Betkemo Banibou – Private First Class Abienza Joseph The report further claims that the attackers withdrew with weapons and ammunition taken from the soldiers following the attack. The incident has not yet been independently verified by this publication, and no official LRC military statement confirming the reported casualties was located at the time of writing. N’ZUI MANTO also claims that 1,851 soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the war. That cumulative figure is likewise not independently verified and should be treated as an attributed claim rather than an established casualty count. The reported attack would nevertheless mark another significant episode in the widening geography of the armed conflict, extending beyond the core territory of Ambazonia into areas of the Littoral bordering the Atlantic zone.
