Before Fru Ndi was assimilated and neutralized to be substituted by their own Beti brother Joshua Osih in waiting, it was rumoured that Fru Ndi was in fact from the south region and his real name was Fouda Ndi.
In fact, it was claimed that his father had migrated to Bamenda, where he got a local girl pregnant, leading to the birth of John Fru Ndi. To make sure no other leader close to his original top brass replaced Fru Ndi, all his top lieutenants from Siga Asaga, Albert Mukong, Mbah Ndam, to Cyprian Awudu were eliminated. Coincidentally, Ndi is a common name in many parts of French Cameroon. With that deceit, the Baforchu son ignorantly moved the SDF headquarters into the enemy camp, where he was ambushed by French intelligence and finally destroyed.
