The Social Democratic Front (SDF) says it is ready to rebuild the party and win back the political ground it believes has been lost to the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) and others.
Speaking during the party’s Regional Convention, several SDF members said the time has come to restore the party’s former strength and reconnect with Cameroonians.
SDF militant Angafor Divine accused the CPDM of failing to support meaningful dialogue on the Anglophone crisis at the National Assembly.
According to him, a peaceful political solution is needed to end the violence that has claimed many lives in the North West and South West regions. Yet, other political parties, especially the CPDM, have invested much to ensure things remain the same. He argued that more commitment to dialogue could help ease the suffering of people affected by the conflict.
The convention is expected to set the party’s roadmap ahead of future political activities, with members expressing confidence that the SDF can make a strong political comeback.
The CPDM has consistently said it remains committed to preserving peace, national unity, and development while addressing the country’s security challenges, without ever implementing them.
