Yaoundé: four alleged members of a gang of attackers arrested

In a significant development in the fight against crime in Yaoundé, the capital city of Cameroon, four individuals have been apprehended by law enforcement authorities. These arrests are part of a broader effort to address the surge in criminal activities that have been a cause for concern among residents and authorities alike.

The first case involves a group of four alleged robbers, including a police officer, who were arrested by the judicial police. This group was reportedly involved in a series of robberies targeting pharmacies and bakeries, utilizing automatic guns to carry out their operations. The arrest of a police officer as part of the gang is particularly alarming, as it suggests a breach of trust and integrity within the law enforcement system. The operation led to the seizure of weapons and equipment, marking a victory for the judicial police in their ongoing campaign against insecurity in the city.

In a separate but equally disturbing case, a gang of alleged serial rapists was arrested by officers of the Post Centrale Gendarmerie Post. The suspects are accused of causing havoc in the Nlongkak neighborhood, following their victims and assaulting them in secluded areas. The arrest followed an intelligence report and ongoing investigations prompted by complaints from victims. The gendarmerie’s seizure of Indian hemp and knives from the suspects underscores the violent nature of their alleged crimes.

These incidents highlight the challenges faced by Yaoundé in maintaining safety and security for its citizens. The arrests send a strong message that criminal behavior will not be tolerated and that the authorities are actively working to bring perpetrators to justice. It also raises questions about the measures in place to prevent such crimes and the need for community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement agencies.

The community’s role in supporting the fight against crime cannot be overstated. Citizens are encouraged to remain alert, report suspicious activities, and collaborate with the police to ensure a safer environment for all. As the judicial process unfolds, it is hoped that justice will be served and that these arrests will deter others from engaging in criminal activities.

The situation in Yaoundé serves as a reminder of the importance of robust law enforcement and community engagement in tackling crime. Peace and order can be restored and maintained in communities around the world through concerted efforts and a commitment to justice.

Four individuals suspected of being part of a gang responsible for recurring attacks in the city of Yaoundé were arrested by gendarmes from the Ngousso station. These arrests were made after an investigation was launched following complaints lodged by residents of the Omnisport district, victims of violent attacks.

“We were seized and transported to the scene, they were caught in the act. These 4 suspects were arrested. After cross-checking; we realized that it is a well-organized gang with the main targets being ladies, whom they dispossess of their property and cash. Anyone who wants to fight back is stabbed,” explains the commander of the Ngousso gendarmerie brigade, Aloys ABEGA MGBA ZANG.

The four people arrested are not the only members of this gang. Several are still on the run, according to Télé Asu’u. Among the victims, a senior army officer attacked by these “microbes”. Another victim, stabbed by the same group, is in hospital.

Taking refuge under a shelter while it was raining, he was surprised by the arrival of three people wearing hoodies, who ordered him to give up everything he had in his possession, brandishing knives and machetes. The gentleman objects. A fight breaks out. He escaped with some injuries before fleeing.

The scene is filmed by a surveillance camera. According to the gendarmes, the modus operandi of this gang is similar to that of

which raged in the city of Douala at one point. An investigation is opened to get hold of the other members of the gang.
