Fonki’s Predominant Role at Pope Leo’s Reception Vindicates Breaking News

When a prominent newspaper, Breaking News, published on the front page in its edition number 316 of April 6, 2026, that “the Rev Rev Fonki Samuel to represent the PCC during Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Cameroon”, its publisher Labah Polycarp was almost stoned to death, crucified and castigated for not being professional but when the Pope came, it came to pass that this journalist wrote the truth and nothing but the truth. This now brings to the limelight worries from concerned Christians of the PCC, as reported below:

WHO IS AT THE HELM OF THE PCC, Fonki/Ndive/Perpetua Or Miki?

This is the question that has been troubling PCC Christians and neutral observers. If a research study were to write a thesis titled: “How Should Ecclesiastical Power be Exercised Responsibly,” then Fonki’s tenure as Moderator of the PCC would be enough as the only “Case Study” required. Of all the Moderators that preceded him, Fonki Samuel is a perfect example of “how not to govern.”

Arguably, the last ten years were PCC’s darkest, darkest because of the collapse of due processes in decision making, lack of transparency in financial management, the weaponization of transfers and appointments, and his voice was the only voice heard in official meetings.

Even after he “left,” or has he? The church is still being run by proxies, sustained by fear and sheltered in silence. A chronically desperate Fonki cannot be allowed to rule the church by proxy, all in a bid to justify relevance.

Fonki is a shameless narcissistic bigot who sees no reason why he should leave Buea (after serving out his term), even though all departing Moderators before him left, so that their successors could function independently. He used his time in office, not as a public trust, but as a tool for personal gain, blurring the line between duty and self-interest.

Positions and privileges were routinely handed to family members and Pastors who adored him, regardless of merit, while loyalty is rewarded over competence. Decisions are taken based on what benefits him, his inner circle, rather than the church he was called to serve, creating a culture of nepotism, favouritism and entitlement. Over time, this pattern of nepotism and self-enrichment erodes trust and credibility, weakens the church’s institutions, and transforms spiritual authority into a private asset instead of humble service to God.

Fonki Samuel’s “election” as head of the church was a gamble, a gamble that ended in disaster, creating an unprecedented environment of chaos and toxicity. Before his “election,” the church was unified and stable, in superb shape in terms of structure and stability. And then a lunatic occupied a sacred office, and in no time transformed the church into a joyless, miserable environment, characterized by constant hostility aimed at some pastors and Synod office staff.

The true measure of pastoral leadership is humility and how a leader treats his colleagues – by that metric, Fonki Samuel failed miserably. How this can be corrected or significantly transformed is a matter of speculation.

The PCC does not only need a change in orientation, but also a change in culture following the disastrous “election” of Fonki Samuel. The PCC is, by and large, a church of the people, by the people, and for the people. Sadly, though, in the last ten years, it has been privatized. His reckless behaviour and crazy ideas have led to his moral collapse; now he looks like a broken and beleaguered man.

He left office without unifying the church he needlessly divided. Now, he’s unable to come to terms with himself; he failed to leave behind any clear identity, dragged himself down by muddled thinking, and the name “Fonki” has become anathema.

He has a reputation for lacking clarity in thought, poor judgment, and a brutal personality that creates problems instead of solving them. If neutral observers were asked to identify any obvious strategy in Fonki’s leadership, they would struggle to answer.

His direct involvement in handpicking those to occupy God’s sacred office (those he can control), compelling his allies (KP’s) to bully, bribe and intimidate pastors, his stubborn and thoughtless decision to remain in Buea, to maintain control, his brutal and bias decision to exclude credible and viable candidates, his huge appetite for material things, his foolish idea to be the only one speaking in the room, his desperate need for validation – has done him more harm than good. Regrettably, he is an isolated figure. The brutal price he is paying for poorly mistreating some of those who helped him ascend.

So, who is at the helm of the PCC? Fonki/Ndive/Perpetua or MIKI?

The PCC is obviously facing a leadership crisis. Yes, a Moderator has been elected, or should I say, appointed, and still, the coronated leader is silent, powerless, a tool in the hands of his predecessor, Ndive and Perpetua. Miki has been “kept there” to ensure the continuation of the Fonki – Ndive – Perpetua dynasty. A role he has meekly accepted. Miki is too weak to assert himself, too afraid to stand his ground and too unable to build his own team. Surrounded by Fonki loyalists, every move of his is being reported to THE GRAND MASTER. He appears to be too preoccupied with having his own share of the pie rather than taking command and fixing what Fonki has spoiled.

The election (appointment) of Miki is a “spiritual crime,” against the church of God, since his election was not “competitive, transparent and verifiable.” It was rather stage-managed by Fonki-Ndive-Perpetua and their KP’s in order to perpetuate their hegemony. The November 2024 Synod was a “satanic theatre,” designed to preserve a system that has been created to benefit certain individuals.

This has led to church institutions obeying individuals, not the Constitution. Silence is no longer an option; instead, it is evidence of the fact that either the present leadership is inept, confused or powerless to lead. The church cannot be governed based on slogans. There must be evidence that the older order is changing, that institutions are bigger than individuals, that Fonki, Ndive, Perpetua and the KP’s have lost public trust, that the culture of enlightenment have no place in the church and must end, and that there has to be accountability in all areas of life church…including the office of Moderator and financial Secretary.

There has to be an end to administrative and spiritual “absolutism,” that is, the rule by fear and coercion.

Unless some bold actions are taken in order to completely divorce from the Fonki past, then Miki’s tenure will never be remembered in the annals of PCC history.

Ultimately, the PCC and the nation look up to you as the one currently selected to lead God’s people during this troubling and uncertain time. Please do not behave as if you’re not aware that so many of your colleagues are hurting. We pray God to equip you to face this challenge with courage and a strong spiritual boldness. Your vision can only be realized if you lead with your own voice and convictions. Do not inherit another man’s enemies. Do not reward another man’s allies. We encourage you to set the necessary boundaries in ensuring that your vision is the one being pursued. We are ready to stand behind you if only you are willing and bold enough to do the right things and make the right decisions.

Many, especially Presbyterian Christians, are aware that in the presence of the current moderator, it was the former Moderator who spoke.

The former Moderator, Rev Fonki is the President of Protestant Churches. He is also in the World Council of Protestant Churches as the Vice President. But the Pope’s visit to Cameroon did not concern Africa or the world; it was a purely Cameroon affair, as the Pope had other African countries on his agenda. Everything being equal, who says PCC today says Miki
